Fun Friday...

Mysterious Skin :

Plot Outline- A teenage hustler and a young man obsessed with alien abductions cross paths, together discovering a horrible, liberating truth.
Plot Synopsis: "The summer I was eight years old, five hours disappeared from my life. Five hours, lost, gone without a trace..." These are the words of Brian Lackey (Brady Corbet), a troubled 18 year-old, growing up in the stiflingly small town of Hutchinson, Kansas. Plagued by nightmares, Brian believes that he may have been the victim of an alien abduction. Local Neil McCormick (Joseph Gordon Levitt) however, is the ultimate beautiful outsider. With a loving but promiscuous mother (Elisabeth Shue), Neil is wise beyond his years and curious about his developing sexuality, having found what he perceived to be love from his Little League baseball coach (played by Hal Hartley veteran Bill Sage) at a very early age. Now, ten years later, Neil is a teenage hustler, nonchalant about the dangerous path his life is taking. Neil's pursuit of love leads him to New York City, while Brian's voyage of self discovery leads him to Neil - who helps him to unlock the dark secrets of their past. Based on the acclaimed novel by Scott Heim, "Mysterious Skin" explores the hearts and minds of two very different boys who come to find the key to their future happiness lies in the exorcism of their collective demons.

I have wanted to try that Diet Dr. Pepper Berries & Cream...I bet it's pretty good! Chicken Ceasar Focaccia sounds exactly like something I would love!

The sandwich was incredible! Yep...I think you would really like the newest Dr Pepper...it's a bit sweeter though!

I know you have already begun the spoiling of little Amelia! :)

I own a copy of Mysterious Skin, too ... easily one of the best movies of last year, I think. Terribly intense and disturbing, though. Joseph Gordon-Levitt gave one of the finest performances I've seen in ages.

He's an incredible actor, Mark, and I know this will be a film that I enjoy and bug others to watch! ;)

I'd love to see Mysterious Skin. I wonder if someone might have uploaded it as a bit torrent? I will have to look for it.

So what did the hottie guys do/say or did they hear the comment? Kids pick the darndest time to do and say things. One time I was standing in line at the checkout counter at a drug store and in front of me was a woman carrying a little boy about two years old. I was sixteen or seventeen at the time. All of a sudden the kid leaned toward me and grabbed hold of my shirt collar. Vey loudly, he yelled, "Daddy!". He would not let go of my shirt either. Everyone around started laughing. :)

LOL! Well, one guy didn't hear, BUT the cutie heard it loud and clear...he grinned real big and when we left, he gave my sis a smile and said, "Have a nice day! Please come back and see us!"

LOL! I would love to have seen embarassed young Tim! :)

I'm addicted to Dr. Pepper Berries and Cream.

I want to see Underworld: Evolution and Mysterious Skin too. I love films by Gregg Araki.
Mark: comic cloud paradiseboywondermark on June 10th, 2006 03:13 am (UTC)
I think the only other Araki movie I've seen is The Doom Generation...and I loved that!

I love reg Dr Pepper and I love this too! So nummy!

TomOnWheelstomonwheels on June 10th, 2006 10:15 pm (UTC)
"The Doom Generation" is actually part of a "trilogy" of sorts --The movies aren't COMPLETELY connected but there are overlapping characters and themes. Araki himself describes the three films as a trilogy.

1. Totally F***ed Up (1993) - The Asterisks are actually part of the film title - I didn't censor it. Hee.

2. The Doom Generation (1995)

3. Nowhere (1997)

They are all great films. I own all of them.
