Just do something else, sweetie ! Leave the computer behind for a while, and go get some fresh air, do stretch exercises, but don't block in front of it because it's only going to make it worse.

You know what I do? I take a drive in the car, alone, with no destination. I've gotten some of my best ideas driving around aimlessly listening to the radio.

I have faith!

Alrighty, I'm going to open Creative Block randomly, and list what I get.

Here we go:

- [spark word] "Ancient"

- Select some music without lyrics, put it on your stereo, and turn it up a little louder than you usually do. Lie on the floor and close your eyes. Let your mind go where it wants.

- Introduce yourself to a neighbor or co-worker you've never talked to before. Learn as much as you can about his or her life.

- What is the first painting you remember seeing? Write down everything about it, including where you were and who you were with when you saw it.

- Made a list of small tasks that are distracting you from your main project. Take a half hour and clear up as many of these as you can. Schedule a half hour every few hours to focus on getting the small things off your plate.

Okay, you don't have to do all of these, just try one two. Something should be sparked along the way.

Random challenges from places like the cues community can be useful :)

With the advantage that it often leaves you with ideas to expand on later *grin*

OH...I have tons of ideas...they're just stuck and won't come out! LOL!
Jennifershenya on May 29th, 2006 01:42 am (UTC)
I sometimes find that a challenge can serve as a prompt to get a scene down that I've know the outline of for a while but just haven't had the push to actually write.

go to san fran. lol no really there are beautiful houses everywhere and this awesome gothic church. the "de young", the "asian art museum" ,the "tea garden", and of corse you cant forget the castro. ;) lol but as for local insperation just sit alone, out in like a wooded area, and think. ;)

don't get weird but you could also just try calling for a muse. like an actual one.
Mark: comic disney dancing musesboywondermark on May 29th, 2006 02:28 am (UTC)
All fun ideas! Frisco I can't do right now, but the woods and the muse I definately can! :)

Just keep writing. Write about the fact that you can't write at the moment. Write THROUGH it.

Ditto to listening to film soundtracks and/or watching a film for inspiration. I use that sometimes myself.

Ultimately, relax. Inspiration will strike again.

Thanks, Tommy! Trying to relax!! *Big Hugs*
