A day off of work...
Took the day off and went with my two sisters, my brother-in-law and my niece and nephew to Dutch Wonderland, an amusement park in Pennsylvania (geared towards smaller kids)...it was about an hour and forty five minute drive. We rode in 2 cars...a boy car and a girl car...LOL! Griffin, my nephew, was so keyed up on the way up there...he began "Are we there yet?" after about 15 minutes in the car!

When we arrived, we ate at the buffet and filled our bellies for the day!
After filling up the kids had to go to the bathroom of course...LOL! Then it was to the rollercoaster! Gweni said no way...and my two sisters stayed with her. Griffin, Kevin and myself rode the coaster...Griffin didn't say a word until we were getting back off...then he informed us, "Don't ever ask me to do that again!". *Chuckle*
I took the kids over to a small pond where they had remote controlled boats and they enjoyed that quite a bit! It was nice until I heard my nephew chuckle and then yell "Get the ducks!"...His mom gave him a thorough scolding over that!
We watched the kids get on several 'children only' rides and then we rode the paddle boat. Afterwards, we walked over to a large area that seemed to have hundreds of ducks and geese...and those coin-fed machines that give you a handful of feed for a quarter. I warned the kids to not get right up on the geese but Griffin is not one to listen if he decides differently...LOL...suddenly, I hear "Ahhhhhhh! Save me! Save me!"...he got right in some alpha-goose's face apparently and it honked out and flapped it's wings at him! I told him it was payback for the ducks/boat incident! LOL!!
Next it was to the Bumper Cars...and, since Missy and Gweni had been paired up all day and Griff with Kevin, Missy suggested they switch partners. Gwen was mad and said she wasn't riding the bumper cars...so I told her that she'd be able to ram into Griffin's car real hard...and she changed her mind! LOL!
We all went to the waterpark area, Duke's Lagoon, for about an hour and a half...after a stop in the changing rooms, it was time for some sun and cooling water coming from a wide variety of places...lots and lots of fun! Slides, water falls, fountains placed everywhere coming right out of the ground, etc! I got plenty of sun! Gweni was having a nice quiet fun time...Griff was a madman! LOL!
We rode the flume and a few more rides and then headed to the shops for the kids to get souvenirs. On the way Gweni got her pic taken with "The Princess"...there is a Princess, A knight and a Dragon walking around...as the park has a kinda medieval theme. Getting a hug and having her pic taken with The Princess was just the icing on the cake for Gwen...she was so happy!
My sis, Linda, and myself each bought the kids something...as did their parents. Griffin got a sword from Linda and his parents and a playset from me, with a sword, helmet, shield and breastplate. Gweni got a princess hat from her parents, a wand from Linda and a princess skirt from me.
Time for us to drag our tired selves back home! Heading home, Griffin was wearing his Knight costume and he, Kevin and myself each brandished a sword and declared ourselves 'Car-Vikings'! LOL! We passed the Girl's car several times...growling, shaking our fists and waving our fiercesome plastic swords! Hahahahaha!
After I got home and washed up, I got to chat with Jase for awhile...a perfect ending to a perfect day!

The kids are going to need a bigger house to put all their toys. You might need one too. :)

eh...in my crowd a "boy's car" would have careened off the road within 14 seconds of engine start up.

You are such a sweet kid...er...guy. It amazes me how you stay so upbeat and positive all the time. That is truly a gift that you have.
Mark: Grumpypupboywondermark on July 30th, 2005 10:51 pm (UTC)
I try to be upbeat, Gryph...but I do have my moments! LOL! I just don't post about them! ;)

You're a sweetie yourself, throwing around the compliments! :)

i LOVE these entries!! i smile and laugh the whole time, so thank you, sweetie. However, i am a little miffed. i heard waterpark and thought "shirtless Mark!!" but alas, no pictures. Yeppers, your basic horndog right here. Still, i really enjoyed it and would love to hear more "day with the kiddies" stories. Although i'm sure that anyday with you is filled with excitment and adventure ;).

You are just the sweetest, Jeff! I have lots of kid stories but I don't want to overdo it and have people rolling their eyes! LOL!
Yeah...Marky had on his trunks...however Marky also had the camera! LOL!

(Everyday filled with excitement and adventure? LOL...I wish!)

~Big hugs~

Awww, thank you and right back at ya, hon! i think you underestimate your talent for telling a very entertaining story.

MMMM, Marky in trucks :p!!! Too bad i can never get my trunks off when they are wet. The stings always end up in a wet knot and i just have to go around with soggy drawers until they dry.

Oh, sweetheart, I'd get those knots undone in the blink of an eye! LOL!! ;0)

I like these stories with Griffin and Gwen they are always cute stories. That's funny how you spoil them and what Griffin said about the rollercoaster. I understand about the rollercoaster..I won't get on them.
