Not to minimize the catastrophe and tragedy of such a thing, but hundreds of greyhounds are euthanized all the time. And thousands of cats are euthanized every year.

While I'm not saying we shouldn't help these particular greyhounds, I'm just not sure why they're more important than any of the other gajillion animals abandoned or killed.

Maybe I'm just in a pessimistic mood.

Most likely.

IMO, It's all horrible, Dan!

This is just me, but to not say anything because one tragedy may sound worse than another is to cause yourself to do nothing or become inactive.
Should we not speak about the plight of women in Iraq because the plight of women in the Congo seems worse? Or not speak of child prostitution in some countries because the Tsunami victims overshadow them?
I'm not preaching, hon...just explaining my post!

No, I'm not saying that at all. I just mean to make sure you're aware that this is hardly an isolated incident.

Unfortunately, I'm painfully aware, sweetie! :(

They're not more important. It's bad enough that greyhounds are regularly euthanized (more or less) because they get "too old" and/or no longer perform as the track owners would like. In this case, the dogs will be killed basically because the humans could not manage a profitable business. This situation highlights the inhumane attitudes and practices that are found in greyhound racing.

The number of abused and abandoned animals out there can be overwhelming. We just have to do what we can.

Sadly true, hon. :(
