Hey Adrian...check it out...
Not sure if you saw this...

Where art thou Green Lantern?
Posted on Mon, 20-Dec-2004

"Blade Trinity" helmer David Goyer told me last week that the big guns recently came to him with an offer to direct either "The Flash" or "The Green Lantern". They're the next two that Warner wants to get going on, he says. Goyer ultimately went with the red-dressed running man, but that doesn't mean DC still aren't bringing the green avenger to the screen.

So what's the status of "The Green Lantern" movie?

An insider tells us today that "The Green Lantern" is actually moving just as fast towards fruition as Goyer's "The Flash". For starters, the script is near complete.

"They ditched the last script, started again. Word is, it's a great read. Should make for an amazing movie. Expect a director to be announced pretty soon".

And although we're still quite a spell away from casting, you can rule out everyone that's been mentioned for the lead. "Jack Black, no way, Ben Browder, nope....Warner isn't considering either at the moment". Our contact adds, "If, like Batman Begins, the studio decides to chase whoever the net community wants for the role, it'll be Tom Cruise, but he's a busy, busy guy - I'm sure they'll make an offer anyway".

Funnily enough, Cruise was interested in playing another Marvel character, "Iron Man" at one stage, so it isn't entirely out of the question that it could be something that rocks Cruise's cradle. Still, he's more booked up than an escort agent on Valentine's day.

Apparently, the latest version of the script features 'original' Green Lantern, Hal Jordan.

Mark, you're killing me here, buddy. I'm all for comic adaptations, but you're getting my hopes up for a lot of them.

BTW...did you ever read any Cloak & Dagger?

Cheers matey.

Hey! thanks for the info! I *have* heard that THe Flash was in progress, but I had no idea there was a Green Lantern development. That's totally cool! I REALLY REALLY hope they find the right person to play Hal Jordan...everytime i hear about a superhero film, i always cringe in fear that they're gonna pick someone ridiculous to play the lead.

thanks bud!

Maybe, if this film goes well, we will eventually see Kyle Rayner on the silver screen!!

Ben would be physically good... but not right for the part. He'd actually make a MUCH better Flash personalitywise.

Yeah, gotta agree, Dan...I love Ben but I can't see him as GL!

That pisses me off very much! So now WB is producing Flash before Wonder Woman! Don't get me wrong, I like Flash and Green Lantern, but is WB going to postpone the Wonder Woman project forever?! I mean, she is one of the top three along with Superman and Batman!

Oh well, forgive me! I, as you know, am an avid Wonder Woman fan that have been waiting for this movie for al least 20 years now. I know the pre-production is still going on, but when they jump to a project before Wonder Woman I just go beserk! :o(

A Green Lantern is pretty cool, I think Ben Browder would make a great Hal Jordan. And Jack Black? what the hell were they thinking?

If not Ben Browder, who do you guys think would make it?

And as far as a Wonder Woman movie being held back? Well look at the fcuk ups they've done with other comic heroines: Super Girl, CatWoman, need I say more?
Mark: Archangelboywondermark on December 22nd, 2004 10:21 pm (UTC)
I love Ben, Psi, but I can't see him as GL! If Harrison Ford were young, I could see him!
Michaelmikey89 on December 22nd, 2004 06:58 pm (UTC)
I agree with Psi, Ben Browder would make a great Hal Jordan... but if not Ben then what about Christain Bale?

The biggest failure of comic to movie was Hulk..
Mark: abercrombieboywondermark on December 22nd, 2004 10:25 pm (UTC)
Christian is doing Batman, so it won't be him...how about Matt Damon?!
