So...for those who have asked how I've been doing, here goes...

As you know, everything started with daily severe migraine-type headaches last August and continued through several doctors and tests and medicines...stretching over months, until I finally found an incredible neurologist at The University of Md Hospital. She got me on the right meds and stopped the severe burning headaches and ordered MRIs of my neck. There they discovered something that was very disturbing, so she referred me to a neurosurgeon there at The Hospital (he's the head of neurosurgery). He examined me and the MRI of my neck and ordered a CatScan of my neck and X-Rays from different perspectives.

So, I went back to the neurosurgeon on St Patty's day and he had discovered that my first vertebrae is fused to the base of my skull...then there is a space...then my next two vertebrae are fused together. This causes lots of strain on me and lots of problems, but that's not the major problem. inside the two fused vertebrae I have bone spurs growing in towards my spinal cord leaving very little clearance. In June, I am to go for another series of MRIs, CatScans and XRays to see how much the spurs have grown. If the spurs grow into my cord, I'm told I will stroke or become paralyzed. My neurologist, whom I saw a few weeks later, says that my neurosurgeon is one of the best and that he will have to operate in the near future. Tha..tha...thaaaaaa...that's all folks! :)

"Come, take a trip in my airship,
Come sail away to the stars,
We'll travel to Venus,
We'll sail away to Mars..."

It's Modern day and mutants aren't liked. They group themselves together for protection and for other less agreeable reasons. One such group has taken refuge on an airship. There, they can be themselves. They are soldiers of fortune, taking what they want and then escaping into the air. Of course, there are other means of wealth that are more honorable. They harvest lightning, and sell it to the humans on earth who have lost the capacity to do it for themselves. Will you join the crew of the King's Ransom, and seek your fortune? Or will you hunt the dreadful mutants and join the Human International Law Enforcement? The choice is yours.

...but this is worth posting...

Got it from Jase who got it from Dennis...

The daytime soap opera “As the World Turns” has had an ongoing storiyline about a young gay couple (Luke and Noah)-- even if you don't watch the show, chances are you have come across mentions of it here on LJ or elsewhere on the net. The couple haven’t kissed since last September; recently they finally did get a couple of kisses on screen and it has caused the AFA (among others) to start a campaign against Proctor and Gamble, the sponsors of the show.

You can read about the American Family Association campaign here:

http://adage.com/article?article_id=126673

The AFA were kind enough to include the YouTube video of the kiss scene in their email with the warning "Content is repulsive." (BCH PLZ!)

http://youtube.com/verify_age?next_url=/watch%3Fv%3Ddd9xCntVqc4

Procter and Gamble is conducting poll about continuing the Luke and Noah storyline. Even if you don't watch but don't want to surrender to one group's hysterical homophbia and their trying to enforce unnecessary censorship, please call:

1-800-331-3774

Press 2 for the Luke and Noah poll, and then 1 to vote to continue the storyline.

Don't let one section of the population decide what is or is not acceptable to watch--they have the same ability to turn the channel as anyone else does if they don't want to watch something.

The kissing is pretty chaste by soap standards--hardly something to get their collective knickers in a twist. I thought it was very sweet.

Then post this info in your own LJ. That way we can reach more people.

Went to see the neurosurgeon today. Not sure what kind of news I have. Whn he looked at the MRI films of my neck he asked meif I had been in an accident or had experienced any other trauma. I told him that I hadn't. He went over the the films with me and pointed to the important areas and centered on an area pretty close to the base of my skull where the spinal cord seems to almost disappear. Then he did did ome tests on my hands and informed me that my right hand showed some hint of a disorder. The real fun part was when he told me that... "I've been in Neurology for 30 years and I've never seen anything quite like what you have".

So I have to go on the 18th for another series of tests, outpatient (thankfully), and then see the neurosurgeon again on March 10th. I see my Neurologist on March 17th. LOL...what a mess, eh?

Accidental Pill Overdose Killed Ledger

Wednesday February 6 10:47 AM ET

Heath Ledger died of an accidental overdose of painkillers, sleeping pills, anti-anxiety medication and other prescription drugs, the New York City medical examiner said Wednesday.

The cause of death was "acute intoxication by the combined effects of oxycodone, hydrocodone, diazepam, temazepam, alprazolam and doxylamine," spokeswoman Ellen Borakove said in a statement.

The drugs are the generic names for the painkiller OxyContin, the anti-anxiety drugs Valium and Xanax, and the sleep aids Restoril and Unisom. Hydrocodone is a widely used prescription painkiller.

Borakove wouldn't say what concentrations of each drug were found in Ledger's blood, or whether one drug played a greater part than another in causing his death.

"What you're looking at here is the cumulative effects of these medications together," she said.

The ruling comes two weeks after the 28-year-old Australian-born actor was found dead in the bed of his rented SoHo apartment. Police found bottles of six types of prescription drugs, including sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medication, in his bedroom and bathroom.

Ledger was discovered by his masseuse on Jan. 22 after she arrived for an appointment that afternoon. She entered his bedroom to set up for the massage and found him unresponsive, and proceeded to call Mary-Kate Olsen three times over the next 9 minutes before dialing 911. Ledger had been dead for some time, and police say no foul play occurred.

Ledger, nominated for an Oscar for his role in "Brokeback Mountain," had returned to New York from London days before his death, where he had been filming a $30 million Terry Gilliam film. He said in a November interview that his most recent completed roles in the Batman movie "The Dark Night" and Bob Dylan biopic "I'm Not There" had taken a toll, saying he couldn't sleep.

"Last week I probably slept an average of two hours a night," Ledger told The New York Times. "I couldn't stop thinking. My body was exhausted, and my mind was still going." He said he had taken two Ambien pills, which only gave him an hour of sleep.

Ledger's family returned to the actor's hometown of Perth, Australia on Tuesday to prepare for his funeral. Arrangements were private.

In a statement released through Ledger's publicist, Ledger's father, Kim, said Wednesday: "While no medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy. Heath's accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage."

*I JUST READ THIS AND I'M STILL STUNNED! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!

NEW YORK - Heath Ledger was found dead Tuesday at a downtown Manhattan residence, and police said drugs may have been a factor. He was 28.

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said Ledger had an appointment for a massage at the Manhattan apartment believed to be his home. The housekeeper who went to let him know the masseuse had arrived found him dead at 3:26 p.m.

A large crowd of paparazzi and gawkers began gathering Tuesday evening outside the building on an upscale block in SoHo, where several police officers guarded the door.

The Australian-born actor was nominated for an Oscar for "Brokeback Mountain," where he met Michelle Williams in 2005. The two had lived in Brooklyn and had a daughter, Matilda, until they split up last year.

He most recently appeared in "I'm Not There," in which he played one of the many incarnations of Bob Dylan ƒƒ‚‚ as did Cate Blanchett, whose performance in that film earned an Oscar nomination Tuesday for best supporting actress.

Ledger was to appear as the Joker this year in "The Dark Night," a sequel to 2005's "Batman Begins." He's had starring roles in "A Knight's Tale" and "The Patriot," and played the suicidal son of Billy Bob Thornton in "Monster's Ball."

Ledger grew up in Perth, and began doing amateur theater at age 10. At 16, he moved to Sydney to pursue an acting career, quickly landing TV movie roles and guest spots on Australian television.

After several independent films and a starring role in the short-lived Fox TV series "Roar," Ledger moved to Los Angeles and costarred in "10 Things I Hate About You," a teen comedy reworking of "The Taming of the Shrew."

Offers for other teen flicks came his way, but Ledger turned them down, preferring to remain idle than sign on for projects he didn't like.

"It wasn't a hard decision for me," Ledger told the Associated Press in 2001. "It was hard for everyone else around me to understand. Agents were like, 'You're crazy,' my parents were like, 'Come on, you have to eat.'"

YOU PUT YOUR N.C. WITCHY WOMAN SNOW CURSE ON ME!

LOOK WHAT HAPPENED IN MARYLAND TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

"A fast-moving storm brought a light blanket of snow into much of Central Maryland today, snarling traffic, closing schools early and creating blizzard-like conditions in some areas. The weather caused a number of accidents, and I-95 was shut down in both directions near Beltsville due to downed power lines."

IT TOOK 45 MINUTES TO DIG MY CAR OUT! THE TRAFFIC WAS INSANE GOING HOME (MARYLAND DRIVERS...UGH)...THEN WHEN I GOT HOME, I HAD TO WAIT FOR THE SNOW TO STOP AND SHOVEL. IN THE FRONT I HAVE A LONG SIDEWALK, 22 STEPS, A WALKWAY AND A PORCH. IN THE BACK,I HAVE A PORCH WITH 7 STEPS, A PATIO AND A LONG WALK. IT'S COLD. I ACHE. Well Happy New Year everyone! I was invited out, but opted to stay in and burrow like some woodland creature. LOL. It was cold out and I was already feeling drowsy when I got off of work so I just decided to stay home. No biggie...I chatted with my sweetie Jase, ate some pie and ice cream, wrote a bit, rewatched Narnia and then watched... THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM...

...for the first time! WHOA! Talk about a rush! Those who know me know that I'm a Matt fan, but he's incredible in this movie and this movie is wild! Non-stop action! If you're an action film junkie, see this one! There is not only action, but intrigue within intrigue to be had...I swear, I don't know how some of these secret service personnel keep anything straight! LOL! I'm dying to say more, but I don't want to give anything away to those who haven't seen the movie...so I'll stop now and just say Happy New Year Again!

P.S. Not that this has anything to do with anything, but has anyone ever noticed how long Matt Damon's fingers are?! :b

Yesterday, I drove mom over to one of our malls and spent the day picking up the last few gifts I had to get...mostly gift certificates for the hard to buy for members of the family and stocking stuffers from Bun Penny. OMG...LOL...It was a madhouse...sooooooooooooo packed! It took us forever to get a seat in the food court! The one good thing was that I got to chat with Jase when I got home! I had missed him Friday night because I was on babysitting duty...watched my niece and nephew while my sis and her husband went to a "Snowflake Ball". We had a great time...watched movies, ate pizza and made sundaes.

So...today, I spent the entire day wrapping packages! I wrapped all of my packages and all of my mom's packages (except for my own that is)...I didn't finish until sometime after 7:00! I was drained! While I wrapped,I popped "STARDUST" into the DVD player and watched it. WOW! I really enjoyed it!

Needless to say, I plan on watching again without the distraction of wrapping packages, but I saw enough to know it was well acted, had brilliant effects, costuming, etc! I had read Neil Gaiman's book years ago and enjoyed it immensely so I had been looking forward to seeing this...and I wasn't disappointed. Now I wish they would bring 'NEVERWHERE' and 'AMERICAN GODS' to the Silver Screen!
